Network Options ---------------- • If the "Use Audit Trail File" option is selected, the Virex® INIT will create and maintain a Virex® INIT Audit Trail file in the System folder. It will record important information regarding all infections, partial infections or Trojan Horses that are detected. The "Owned By:" pop-up menu allows you to select the word processor that you wish to use to view the file. This feature is especially useful on a dedicated server. If the INIT on the server has the "Automatically Select Default Alert Button" feature enabled (see below), then it is highly recommended that you use this feature to track the activity of the Virex® INIT. If Virex INIT Virus Alerts have occurred in the past, you will see this listed in the Audit Trail file. It is a good idea to check the file occasionally and to use the Virex® application to repair any infected files discovered on the network. • The "Automatically Select Default Alert Button" pop-up menu selects the amount of time that the Virex® INIT will wait before automatically selecting the default button in any of the Virex® INIT's alerts. Please consult the Virex User's Guide, page xx, for more information concerning the configuration of network servers.) This feature is useful for machines that are used as network servers. If a file opened by a remote user is infected, a dialog will appear on the server that must be responded to by the server. By allowing the Virex® INIT to select an automatic default response, the server can quickly recover without direct intervention. A selection of "Never" indicates that default buttons are never selected automatically and all dialogs must be manually responded to. This is a sensible configuration for a stand alone machine.
